Change your email address

By Jon Henshaw1 min readUpdated

Overview

Your account email is what you use to receive sign-in links, so changing it requires proving you still control your current address. Essential Support sends a one-time confirmation link there before the new address takes effect.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the console and choose Account. (This section only appears for the workspace owner.)
  2. Under Email address, your current address is shown.
  3. In the field below it, type the new email address you want to use.
  4. Click Send verification link.
  5. A message confirms a confirmation link was sent to your current address — not the new one. Check that inbox.
  6. Open the email and click the link. It opens a page titled “Confirm your email change” showing the new address.
  7. Click Confirm email change on that page to complete the swap.
  8. A confirmation page shows your account email is now updated. You can close that browser tab.

Good to know

  • The confirmation link goes to your current email address, not the new one — this proves you, specifically, authorized the change.
  • The link works once and expires within an hour. If it lapses, go back to Settings → Account and send a new one.
  • If the new address is already used by another agent in your workspace, confirming the change fails and your email stays unchanged.
  • This self-service flow is only available to the workspace owner. A non-owner agent’s email is changed by an owner or admin directly, from Settings → Agents — editing it there takes effect immediately, with no confirmation link.
